Job Overview:
Join our team as a Cafe & Counter Assistant and play a vital role in providing exceptional customer service in a very fast-paced environment. As a Counter Assistant, you will serve in the takeaway section of our retail bakery. As a cafe assistant you will also assist in food and drink preparation by cooking our basic meal/snack selection for our coffee shop, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, uphold food safety standards, and contribute to the overall efficiency of our coffee shop operations.
The business is open from 8am to 4pm Monday to Saturday, Saturday working is on a rota basis, we do not open Sundays. Hourly rate of pay is currently £12.75 at age 21 years. Expected hours are between 15 to 20 per week over 3 days per week. You will also be expected to help cover other staff holidays/sickness as required.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in food preparation tasks to ensure timely service
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen area
- Adhere to food safety protocols and regulations at all times
- Demonstrate excellent time management skills to handle peak hours efficiently
- Provide friendly and helpful customer service at the counter
- Utilize basic math skills for cash handling and order processing
- Implement upselling techniques to enhance the customer experience
- Collaborate with the team to ensure smooth coffee shop operations

Experience:
- Prior experience in meal preparation or kitchen environments essential
- Knowledge of culinary basics is essential
- Knowledge of food safety practices and regulations
- Strong time management skills to handle multiple tasks effectively
