Full job description

Job Summary

We are looking to recruit a permanent HGV Class 1 (C+E) Driver to work in our straw haulage operation based out of Bunwell, Norfolk. The straw lorries are DAF wagon & drag flatbeds designed to carry straw bales destined for biomass power generation.

Candidate Requirements

Newly qualified HGV drivers welcome
HGV1 licence with Driver CPC
Interested in agricultural haulage
Prepared to work some weekends and bank holidays by prior arrangement (not Christmas Day, Boxing Day, NYD)
Prepared to work nights out
Available over harvest (July-September)
Previous agricultural experience desirable but not essential

Candidate Duties
A typical day will start between 5.00am and 6.00am and take you to a straw storage site on a farm in the East of England where you will be loaded with large or midi hesston bales. You will strap up your load and deliver it to one of our customer’s fuel storage or processing sites in the East of England. Due to the structure of the day, it makes sense to be ‘up the road’ for most of the week, overnighting on farm or near the customer’s sites.

Benefits & Salary

Basic pay £14.00/hr first 8 hours M-F, £14.70/hr thereafter (pay review pending).
Breaks paid for (worth an extra ~3-6% on the rate over employers who deduct for breaks).
Overnight allowance £26.20 tax free.
Saturdays £14.70/hr all hours worked (pay review pending).
Sundays £14.70/hr first 8 hours, £19.38/hr thereafter (pay review pending).
Bank holidays £19.38/hr all hours worked (pay review pending).
CPC training organised and paid for by the Company, on Company time.
Weekly pay.

G Easton & Son Ltd are a small family farming and haulage contracting business based in South Norfolk. We run straw wagons, tippers and tankers, hauling our own produce as well as for third parties. We have a small team of skilled and supportive drivers that we hope you will enjoy working with.
