Help Shape the UK’s Energy Future

Assistant Quantity Surveyor Opportunity with the Civil Works Alliance (CWA), Supporting Sizewell C

As part of the CWA (Civil Works Alliance), you will support the building of Sizewell C. Sizewell C will be a 3.2-gigawatt power station generating low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes and will play a key role in our energy future, supplying reliable, clean electricity for at least 60 years. This role will be within the Main Civil Works Section.

What will you do?

Supporting the commercial management of Main Civil Works packages across the project
Measuring, recording and valuing completed works in accordance with project procedures
Assisting with the preparation of cost reports, cost reconciliations and value reporting
Gathering and analysing cost information to support commercial decision-making
Supporting subcontractor management, including measurement of works and agreement of valuations
Assisting with procurement activities and the preparation of supporting documentation
Maintaining accurate commercial records and project documentation
Using project systems and commercial tools to support cost and performance management
Contributing to weekly and monthly reporting activities
Supporting the wider commercial team to ensure project objectives are achieved

What are we looking for?

Degree qualified (or working towards completion) in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
Understanding of quantity surveying principles and commercial management within construction or infrastructure projects
Strong numerical, analytical and organisational skills
Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships
A proactive approach with a willingness to learn and develop
Ability to work effectively within a collaborative project environment
Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications
Desire to work towards professional membership with RICS, CIOB or ICES
