Job Summary
· Expected to assist with the modification or construction of tooling, jigs and attachments in order to maintain or improve production processes.
· Monitor the delivery and allocation of tooling on arrival from supplier.
· Maintain the KanBan system and ensure stock of all relevant supplies.
· Responsible for identification of any deficiency in product quality or other deviation from product specification.
· Changing work and tool offsets when needed
· Manufacture new tooling when required to issued drawings
· Improving programs with speeds/feeds changes and machining strategies and selecting correct tooling
- Preventative maintenance on tooling, all aspects of machining and bench fitting, i.e., grinding, turning milling etc
- Testing tooling prior to release
- To assess the life of a press tool and to order any new parts or make new parts that need replacing
- Replace pilots, probe pins, springs, designing and making special fixtures to fit to tools
· Keeping database orders and scheduling up to date
· Daily repairs of diecasting machines and dies when faults and issues occur.
· Milling and turning replacement parts for the diecasting machines and dies
· Cutting and turning ejection pins and sleeves
· Polishing dies
· Read drawings and suggest possible improvements.
· Be able to assist on CNC mills & Lathes. Be able to Operate, Set & Programme
· Must meet production schedule targets and all other Kpi’s relevant to the role and department
· Monitoring attendance levels and completing return to work interviews.
· Report any unauthorised absences and issues involving staff members to HR.
· Attending daily production meetings with the Production Manager.
· Ensure all staff are wearing appropriate PPE and completing relevant risk assessments.
· Ensure their working area is kept to satisfactory standard and complies with company Health and Safety requirements.
· Responsible for ensuring all equipment remains in its designated area
· Report any wrong-doing activity to a member of the SMT as and when required
· Expected to work in conjunction with the Production controller.
· Responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient use and control of machinery, tooling, equipment.
· Monitor and continuously improve processes.
· Any other duties which the line manager deems reasonable.
· Gas safety inspection on furnaces up to the point of needing external company
Person Specification
- Be flexible to changing demands of the post
- Be punctual, reliable and trustworthy
- Willing to undertake any training relevant to the role
- Ability to manage time effectively
- Initiative and the ability to work without supervision, but as part of a team.
- Supervisory experience desired
- Ability to read drawings
- Be Level 3 qualified in mechanical engineering field
