Full job description

Job Summary:

We are currently seeking a hardworking and reliable Yard Operative to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient yard environment, with key duties including jet washing, preparing and painting containers, and assisting with the general upkeep and organisation of the yard.

Key Responsibilities:

Preparation and painting of containers, including sanding, masking, priming, and applying topcoat paint to a professional standard.
Jet washing of containers, plant equipment, and other items as required.
Carrying out basic repairs and maintenance on containers.
Loading and unloading goods, materials, and equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
Keeping the yard clean, organised, and hazard-free at all times.
Assisting with stock checks and inventory control.
Following all company health and safety procedures and wearing PPE as required.
Supporting other team members and departments when necessary.

Skills & Experience Required:

Previous experience in a similar role or in a yard/warehouse environment preferred.
Basic knowledge of painting, including spray or brush techniques (training may be provided).
Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Good physical fitness – role involves manual handling and standing for long periods.
A proactive, can-do attitude and strong attention to detail.

Desirable:

Experience working with shipping containers or metal structures.
Basic mechanical or maintenance skills.
