Role Overview
We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Rolling Mill Operator to join our production team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating and monitoring rolling mill equipment. Manufacturing our own products to specified dimensions and quality standards.
The role will involve machine setup, machine running, in process quality inspections, and compliance with our health and safety procedures.
Your hours of work would be 46 hours per week made up of:
Monday to Thursday: 6am – 4pm with a 20 minute paid break
Friday: 6am - 12pm
Key Responsibilities
- Operate rolling mill machinery in accordance with production schedules and operating procedures.
- Set up and adjust rolling mill equipment to achieve required product specifications.
- Monitor rolling processes to ensure optimum efficiency
- Conduct routine quality inspections and measurements using appropriate gauges and measuring equipment.
- Identify and report defects, equipment issues, and process deviations.
- Perform basic maintenance, cleaning, and lubrication of machinery.
- Record production data, quality results, and operational information accurately.
- Follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures.
- Assist with material handling and loading/unloading operations where required.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities to enhance productivity and quality.
- Embed ESG and sustainability principles throughout decision-making, and delivery.
- Support company-wide ESG initiatives, reporting, and sustainability projects.
Key Requirements·
- Previous experience operating rolling mill equipment or similar industrial machinery.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes within the steel production environments.
- Ability to read and interpret production drawings and understand required tolerances.
- Good attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
- Strong awareness of workplace health and safety requirements.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, nights, and weekends if required once established
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Experience in steel processing operations
- Forklift Truck (FLT) licence. (Beneficial but training will be given if role requires it)·
- Overhead crane experience or certification (training will be given if required)· Mechanical aptitude and basic maintenance knowledge.
