Role Purpose and Key Responsibilities
RICS is looking for a Head of HR Operations to lead our HR Operations, Employee Relations and People Operations service. This is a key leadership role, responsible for employee relations, HR systems, HR data, payroll processes, service delivery and HR operational improvement.
About the Role
You will lead a UK and India based HR Operations team, supporting them to deliver a reliable, professional and consistent service across RICS. The team is well established, and your focus will be on leading, coaching and developing the team, strengthening employee relations capability, improving how we use data and insight, and identifying practical ways to improve the employee and manager experience.
This is a hybrid role based in Birmingham, with 60% of your time spent in the office and 40% remote. Some travel to other UK offices will be required.

Key Responsibilities
Lead the HR Operations, Employee Relations and People Operations service across RICS
Provide expert advice on complex employee relations matters, including investigations, grievances, disciplinary issues, absence, performance and organisational change
Coach and support leaders to manage employee relations matters fairly, consistently and effectively
Lead, coach and develop the HR Operations team, building capability across ER, HR systems, service delivery and data
Oversee operational HR activity across the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, changes, payroll processes and offboarding
Develop HR data, reporting and insight to identify trends, support decision making and improve service delivery
Improve HR processes, systems and self service tools, including appropriate use of technology and AI enabled solutions
Work closely with Finance and other internal teams to ensure accurate, timely and well managed HR and payroll processes
About You
You will be an experienced HR Operations leader with significant employee relations expertise and the confidence to manage complex and sensitive people matters. You will bring sound judgement, a practical approach and the ability to support leaders to make fair, well evidenced decisions.
You will also be a confident people leader who enjoys developing others, creating clarity and helping a team perform well. You will be comfortable using HR data, reporting and insight to understand trends, improve services and support better decision making.
You will bring:
Extensive experience leading HR Operations, People Operations or HR Shared Services
Significant experience managing complex employee relations matters
Experience leading, coaching and developing HR teams
Experience using HR data, reporting and insight to support decision making
Familiarity with HR systems, operational data and payroll processes
Confidence working with senior leaders and operational stakeholders
A clear, pragmatic approach to problem solving and service improvement
CIPD qualification, or equivalent professional experience
Experience in a professional services, membership, regulatory or similarly complex organisation would be helpful, but is not essential
Interest in how technology, including AI, can improve HR services
