Job Overview

Hours of Work: Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 9.30 to 1.30

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Nursery Cook to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing nutritious and appealing meals for young children in a nursery setting. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to the well-being and development of children by providing high-quality, safe, and wholesome food. The Nursery Cook will work in a friendly environment that values teamwork, food safety, and culinary excellence.

Duties

Prepare and cook a variety of meals suitable for young children, ensuring nutritional value and dietary requirements are met
Plan menus in accordance with dietary guidelines and nursery policies
Ensure all food preparation complies with food safety standards and hygiene regulations
Assist in the organisation of kitchen supplies, ingredients, and equipment to maintain an efficient workspace
Serve meals to children in a friendly and caring manner, promoting positive eating habits
Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen area, including washing dishes, sanitising surfaces, and disposing of waste appropriately
Monitor food storage conditions to prevent spoilage or contamination
Collaborate with nursery staff to accommodate special dietary needs or allergies

Experience

Previous experience in food preparation or cooking within a childcare, nursery, or similar environment is desirable
Knowledge of food safety standards and regulations applicable to childcare settings
Experience with meal preparation for young children or infants is advantageous
Familiarity with kitchen equipment and basic culinary techniques
Prior experience working in a restaurant or catering environment is beneficial but not essential
Ability to serve meals professionally while maintaining a warm and welcoming attitude
