Full job description

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million people, and to a wider population of 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.

The role:

This is a part-time evening Domestic Assistant/Cleaner position within an NHS health centre, focused on maintaining high standards of cleanliness and infection control throughout the building.

This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a Skilled Worker visa or a Heath and Care Worker visa. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is unable to provide candidates or employees with a Certificate of Sponsorship (COS).

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

Permanent, Part-time
Shift pattern - Monday - Tuesday 5.30 pm-8 pm; Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 5.30 pm-7.50 pm
Base location - Dumbarton Health Centre

Key responsibilities:

Provide an efficient, high-quality domestic service to patients and staff.
Follow a specific work schedule for allocated areas.
Clean clinical and non-clinical areas within the health centre.
Carry out cleaning tasks including:
- Wet mopping
- Vacuuming
- Emptying bins
- Replenishing supplies
- Cleaning fixtures and furniture
- Cleaning toilet and bathroom areas
Adopt a flexible approach to daily routines.
Use cleaning agents safely and economically, following manufacturers' instructions.
Operate mechanical cleaning equipment where required.
Wear protective clothing provided by the department.
Complete all daily and weekly sign-off sheets for assigned work areas.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

Knowledge of safe and effective cleaning practices.
Understanding of the safe use and storage of cleaning agents.
Ability to follow manufacturers' instructions and departmental procedures.
Willingness to use mechanical cleaning equipment where required.
Understanding of health and safety requirements, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Ability to accurately complete daily and weekly cleaning records and sign-off documentation.
