Full job description

Job Title: Self-Employed Bookkeeper (Day Hospital)

Location: London (Hybrid / Remote with onsite attendance as required)
Engagement Type: Self-employed or par-time.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Bookkeeper to support the financial management of our day hospital. This role is ideal for an independent professional who is confident managing clinical or multi-stream business accounts and can work autonomously while maintaining high levels of accuracy and compliance.

You will play a key role in ensuring the financial integrity of the organisation, supporting management with timely reporting and clear financial oversight.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain accurate day-to-day bookkeeping records across the day hospital
Process invoices, purchase ledger, and sales ledger entries
Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and clinic payment systems
Manage accounts payable and receivable
Prepare monthly management accounts and financial summaries
Track clinic revenue streams and clinician-related payments where applicable
Support payroll coordination with external payroll providers
Assist with cash flow monitoring, budgeting, and forecasting
Prepare financial information for accountants and year-end processes
Ensure compliance with all relevant financial and tax requirements
Maintain confidentiality of all financial and patient-related operational data

About You

Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar role
Experience in healthcare, clinics, or multi-income businesses is highly desirable
Strong proficiency in bookkeeping software (Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, etc.)
Excellent attention to detail and financial accuracy
Able to work independently and manage deadlines without supervision
Strong understanding of VAT and UK accounting principles
AAT qualified or equivalent experience preferred
