We are currently seeking a dedicated Project Engineer to join our Engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the delivery of group change management, continuous improvement, and new product introduction (NPI) projects. You will coordinate activities between project managers and technical teams, acting as the primary technical point of contact to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to the required quality standards. In addition, you will provide engineering support, drive project execution, and work closely with the Key Account Management team to support operational and customer requirements.
Responsibilities
- Support the Engineering manager in the implementation and management of a variety of projects, including NPI, Change Control, and Customer support.
- Support the implementation and embedding of the New Product Introduction (NPI) process throughout the Group
- Lead assigned project, and coordinate project reviews, meetings and the creation and maintenance of project schedules / timelines by monitoring project progress; resolve problems and keep up to date the project dashboards in line with NPI process.
- Determine project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, and performance standards; complete technical studies; prepare cost estimates.
- Work with internal team and external global teams, sites and departments to ensure effective project execution
- Manage the approval and support the Group change control process to ensure timely delivery of controlled changes.
- Analyse technical, operational, and financial data to support project decisions, business cases, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develop and drive improvement within engineering practices and processes.
- Assist in quotations for new business development opportunities by running TCO’s & manipulating technical and financial data to support the quotation process.
- Provide technical support to customers and the project teams, identifying and communicating design, manufacturing and process improvement opportunities
- Schedule project / engineering tasks and deliver to agreed timeframes.
- Present and explain proposals, reports, and findings to internal/external customers.
- Perform administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports and weekly meeting notes.
- Develop processes and define process maps to support engineering projects.
- You will be required to undertake occasional travel to customer locations and other global manufacturing sites as business needs dictate.
Desired skills and qualifications
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in a project engineer or similar engineering role
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to plan, coordinate, and deliver multiple projects to agreed timescales and budgets.
- Experience of New Product Introduction (NPI), product transfer, change control, or engineering project delivery within a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Experience of continuous improvement methodologies and process optimisation.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional and international teams.
- Commercial awareness and experience supporting cost analysis, quotations, or business cases would be advantageous.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and work independently.
- Proficient in Microsoft office applications, ERP systems and project planning tools
