About the role:
We are an ambitious and growing agency looking to invest in the right people to support our continued success. As an Account Handler, you will play a key role in delivering an outstanding service to our customers, supporting both new and existing business across a varied and interesting portfolio of risks.
This is a diverse and hands-on role, where you will be responsible for managing client relationships, handling policy administration and working closely with Account Executives and underwriters to ensure appropriate cover is in place.
You will act as a key point of contact for clients, providing a responsive, professional and personalised service in line with NFU Mutual’s high standards. Day-to-day, you will be involved in processing policy amendments, renewals and new business, ensuring all work is completed accurately and compliantly. You will also support the wider team by identifying opportunities to enhance cover, retain clients and contribute to the agency’s growth.
Ideally, you will have experience in a similar role and be confident balancing administrative responsibilities with client interaction. You will take a proactive, organised approach to your work and enjoy being part of a collaborative, customer-focused team. This role would suit someone looking to build a long-term career in insurance, with the opportunity to develop into more client-facing or advisory roles over time.
- Process policy amendments, renewals and new business accurately and in a timely manner
- Liaise with underwriters to negotiate and secure appropriate cover and terms for clients
- Act as a key point of contact for client queries, ensuring prompt and professional responses
- Identify opportunities to enhance or expand client cover in line with their needs
- Support client retention through proactive relationship management and high service standards
- Maintain accurate and compliant client records using CRM systems
- Build trusted, long-term relationships with clients and key decision-makers
- Cross-sell the full range of NFU Mutual products, including Financial Services and Risk Management Services
- Contribute to the Agency’s growth, retention and reputation within the local business community
About you:
- Experience in insurance, financial services or a client-facing advisory role
- Commercial insurance experience is desirable but not essential
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Organised, proactive and able to manage your own workload effectively
- High attention to detail and good IT skills
- Minimum Grade C/Grade 4 in GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent)
