Prince Bishop Vets is looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate Veterinary Care Assistant (VCA) to join our friendly and dedicated team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual interested in pursuing a role in veterinary care or an already experienced VCA. The ideal candidate will be passionate about animal welfare and enjoy working in a veterinary environment in a supportive role delivering exceptional patient and client care.
About the Role
As a Veterinary Care Assistant, you will work closely with our veterinary surgeons and nursing team, providing essential support in the day-to-day running of the practice and helping to ensure the highest standards of patient care.
Your responsibilities will include:
· Assisting with the safe handling and restraint of patients.
· Supporting inpatient care, including feeding, cleaning, exercising, and monitoring patients.
· Preparing clinical areas and equipment for consultations, operations and diagnostic procedures.
· Maintaining excellent standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and infection control.
· Supporting client care and assisting with enquiries where appropriate.
· Assisting with end of life care and client support
· Assisting with stock control and maintaining organised clinical and non-clinical areas.
· Completing accurate patient records and supporting administrative tasks as required.
· Promoting a positive experience for clients and their pets.
About You
We are ideally looking for someone who:
Essential
· Has a genuine passion for animal welfare and patient care.
· Demonstrates excellent communication and customer service skills.
· Works well both independently and as part of a team.
· Is reliable, organised, and able to remain calm in a busy clinical environment.
· Shows compassion, empathy, and professionalism towards patients, clients, and colleagues.
· Is committed to ongoing learning and professional development.
Desirable (all relevant training can be provided).
· Has previous experience working as a Veterinary Care Assistant or in a similar animal care role.
· Already holds or is open to working towards a recognised Level 2 Veterinary care assistant qualification (or equivalent).
