Vehicle Technician / MOT Tester (Class 4 & 7)

Location: Wincanton
Job Type: Full-Time | Permanent
Salary: £38,500–£45,500 per year (depending on experience)

We're a well-established, family-run independent garage with an excellent reputation for honest advice, quality workmanship, and exceptional customer service. Due to continued growth, we're looking for an experienced Vehicle Technician / MOT Tester to join our friendly, professional team.

We work on a wide range of cars and light commercial vehicles, so if you're looking for variety, modern equipment, and a workplace where your skills are genuinely appreciated, we'd love to hear from you.

The Role

As a Vehicle Technician / MOT Tester, you'll be responsible for servicing, maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing a wide range of vehicles, as well as carrying out Class 4 and Class 7 MOT tests in accordance with DVSA standards.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out servicing, maintenance, and repairs on cars and light commercial vehicles.
Perform Class 4 and Class 7 MOT tests to DVSA standards.
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults.
Complete vehicle health checks and identify any additional work required.
Use modern diagnostic equipment to accurately identify faults.
Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
Maintain accurate job records and keep the workshop clean and organised.
Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver excellent customer service.

What We're Looking For

Level 3 NVQ/City & Guilds (or equivalent) in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
Current Class 4 & Class 7 MOT Tester licence (or Class 4 with willingness to obtain Class 7 qualification).
Proven experience as a Vehicle Technician.
Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
Experience working on a variety of vehicle makes and models.
Full UK driving licence.
A positive attitude, excellent work ethic, and pride in delivering quality workmanship.
