About the Role

We are currently recruiting passionate and dedicated Children’s Residential Support Workers on behalf of our client, a well-established provider with multiple children’s residential homes across the Teesside and County Durham area.

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of children and young people who require care, support, stability, and positive role models. The successful candidates will initially join on a 16-week temporary contract with a view to becoming a permanent member of the team.

Whether you already have experience in residential childcare or come from a related support background with transferable skills, we would love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

Providing high-quality care and support to children and young people in a residential setting.
Promoting positive outcomes, independence, and personal development.
Building professional, trusting relationships with young people.
Supporting education, hobbies, life skills, and social activities.
Maintaining accurate records and reports.
Working collaboratively with colleagues, social workers, schools, healthcare professionals, and families.
Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people at all times.
Managing challenging behaviours in a calm, professional, and therapeutic manner.
Supporting young people through daily routines and activities.

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

Full UK Right to Work with no restrictions (no sponsorship available).
Enhanced DBS Certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Fluent English language skills.
A caring, resilient, and positive attitude.
Ability to work shifts, including weekends and bank holidays.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships.
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Desirable:

Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare.
Previous experience within children’s residential care.
Experience in support work, youth work, education, mental health or other related sectors.
Understanding of safeguarding, behaviour management, and trauma-informed practice.

Salary & Benefits

Salary of £27,512 - £30,976 depending on experience (additional payment for waking nights & sleep ins).
Fully funded Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (if not already achieved)
