The role:
We are looking for someone who will join our Urology team as an audio typist responsible for accurately transcribing medical reports, letters, and other clinical documents. The position supports Urology Consultants, Clinical Nurse Specialists, junior medical staff, and the wider secretarial and administrative teams. The role requires strong initiative, strict adherence to patient confidentiality, and excellent time management to meet agreed typing performance targets.
Band 2 roles are not eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker or Health and Care Worker visa routes.
All other roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
Full-time, permanent
Base location - Glasgow Royal Infirmary
Shift pattern - Monday to Friday
Key responsibilities:
Transcribing medical documentation producing accurate and timely typed reports, letters, and clinical documents.
Supporting Urology clinicians providing a comprehensive typing service to Consultants, Clinical Nurse Specialists, and junior doctors.
Assisting secretarial teams offering administrative support as required.
Providing occasional general admin support helping the wider admin team when needed.
Managing workload independently scheduling tasks to meet performance targets and service needs.
Maintaining confidentiality ensuring all patient information is handled securely and appropriately.
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
Exceptional typing speed and accuracy
Understanding of medical terminology
Strong timemanagement skills
Ability to use initiative
Awareness of confidentiality requirements
