Job Title: Care Home Cook

Job Summary

We are looking for a passionate and experienced Cook to join our care home team. As a cook in our care home , you will be responsible for preparing nutritious, well-balanced meals tailored to the dietary needs of our residents, including those with specific health conditions. You will play a key role in promoting health, comfort, and well-being through high-quality food and service.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and cook meals in line with the weekly menu plan and individual dietary requirements
Ensure meals are presented attractively and served on time
Maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic kitchen environment in line with Food Safety and Health & Safety regulations
Manage food stock, order supplies, and ensure proper storage and rotation
Cater to special diets (e.g. diabetic, soft food, gluten-free, vegetarian, etc.)
Collaborate with care staff to support residents’ nutritional needs and preferences
Ensure allergens are clearly identified and managed
Complete daily kitchen records, including temperature checks and cleaning logs
Supervise and support kitchen assistants if applicable
Comply with infection control policies and current food safety legislation
Promote a positive dining experience for all residents

Essential Skills & Experience

Previous experience as a cook or chef, ideally in a care home, school, or healthcare setting
Knowledge of dietary requirements for older adults and those with health conditions
Food Hygiene Level 2 (minimum requirement) – Level 3 desirable
Understanding of HACCP and COSHH regulations
Good communication and teamwork skills
Ability to work independently and under pressure
Compassion and respect for older people and those with dementia

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From £12.86 per hour
