Job Description: Assistant Farm & Contracting Manager
Glover Agriculture has a position available for a motivated and hard-working individual to assist the Manager/Director and support the team in all working operations.
Key Aspects of the Company
· Working for East Anglia's Leading Premier Agricultural Contractors
· Responsible/managing for up to 25 team members in peak season
· Our company covers 500HA of Contract Farming, 2,000HA Sugar Beet Harvesting, up to 20,000 tonnes of straw, 1,000HA of Contract Combining and 40,000HA of Spraying.
· Working closely alongside the Director and his PA.
The individual will be required to provide details of work to operatives within the yard when the Manager is not available and in addition, the following tasks;
Operational & Practical Work:
- Carry out daily farm operations - Working alongside the Director to assist with crop planning, records and programming of work for various operations on a weekly/fortnightly/monthly and yearly basis.
- Operate and maintain Farm Machinery and Equipment safely and efficiently.
- Assist with planting, harvesting, spraying, and general maintenance.
- Liaising and maintaining a strong relationship with customers.
- Monitor crops and report issues relating to health, welfare, or performance.
- Scheduling and planning of equipment and machinery.
- Planning of machinery servicing and overhauls.
- Delivery of chemicals and diesel to operatives to ensure continued working operations when required.
- Collecting parts from suppliers and delivery to operatives if required or workshop.
- Assisting staff with queries on locations, as well as punctures and repairs.
- Liaise with the workshop when required for repairs and servicing.
Staff Supervision:
- Covering for staff absence through holiday and sickness by operating machinery/equipment.
- Covering for the Manager when absent through holiday or sickness.
- Ensuring completion of the software “Ag Drive” job tickets from the operatives for all operations, ensuring spraying recommendations are all completed correctly and to liaise with the office requesting new job tickets and allocation to operatives.
- Ensuring completion of Timesheets on our platform “Bamboo HR” as well as completing inductions for any new starters.
Health, Safety & Compliance:
- Lead by example in all aspects of Health and Safety. Ensure chemical stock being delivered is within the chemical store at all times and informing the office if pallets need to be removed by chemical suppliers. Assist the Manager with toolbox talk briefings to the team.

The Farm Assistant must have at least 5 years’ experience in operations of all agricultural activities.
They will also need to hold PA1 and PA2 in Spraying Operations and will also need to have a Telehandler Ticket.
PA4 G&S would be an advantage.
The job will be a full-time role but hours will vary seasonally and will include weekends, bank holidays and overtime during busy periods.
