Book Keeper (4 Month Contract – Paternity Cover)

Hours: 9:00am – 2:00pm, Monday to Thursday
Contract: Fixed‑term, 4 months
Required Start Date: 08/06/2026
Reporting to: Head of Finance/Financial Accountant

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and reliable Part‑Time Bookkeeper to provide paternity cover within our finance team. This is a fixed 4‑month contract, working 9am–2pm, supporting the day‑to‑day financial operations of our industrial parts distribution business.

The role is hands‑on and transactional, ensuring continuity and accuracy across bookkeeping activities during the contract period. You will work closely with the Head of Finance and Financial Accountant to maintain robust financial records and support month‑end processes.

Main responsibilities will include:

Maintaining accurate financial records and transactions.
Provide support to the accounting team on ad-hoc tasks.
Manage accounts payable, including invoice posting, supplier statement reconciliations, and payment runs
Support accounts receivable, including invoicing, cash allocation, and customer account maintenance
Reconciling bank statements and resolve discrepancies.
Assist with month-end closing processes.

The successful candidate will have:

Skills:

Proven experience in a bookkeeping role within a UK business
Confidence working independently in a cover role with minimal handover time
Experience using Sage 50 (preferred) or similar accounting software
Experience working with CRM systems, ideally in a sales or distribution‑led environment
Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work with good Excel skills for reconciliations and reporting

A fixed 4‑month contract providing clear scope and expectations
Competitive hourly rate of £15.18 (£30,000 pro-rata full time 5 days a week)
7.5 working days (37.5 hours) of paid holiday
