Full job description

We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Housekeeping Assistant to join our friendly care home team. This role is essential in helping us provide a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for our residents, visitors, and staff.

Duties and Responsibilities

Clean and maintain all areas of the care home to a high standard, including resident's rooms, bathrooms, lounges, dining areas, offices, and communal spaces.
Carry out daily cleaning tasks such as vacuuming, dusting, mopping, polishing, and sanitising surfaces.
Ensure infection control and health & safety procedures are followed at all times.
Collect, wash, dry, iron, and distribute residents’ laundry and bedding.
Handle laundry safely and appropriately, including separating items and using correct washing procedures.
Replenish cleaning and hygiene supplies as required.
Report maintenance issues, hazards, or damaged equipment to management.
Work respectfully and sensitively around residents and their personal belongings.
Assist in maintaining a welcoming and homely environment throughout the care home.

Requirements

Previous cleaning or housekeeping experience is desirable but not essential.
Good attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Caring, respectful, and dependable attitude.
Understanding of hygiene and infection control practices.
Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends.
