Job Overview
About Us
Tier One Developments is a growing construction company based near St Neots, delivering high-quality extensions and refurbishments across Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire and the surrounding areas. We manage projects from design through to completion, and we take pride in giving homeowners a professional, well-organised experience from start to finish. As we continue to grow, we are looking for an organised, proactive Project Coordinator to help run our projects smoothly and keep the whole operation moving, with a real opportunity to grow into project management over time.
The Role
This is primarily a coordination and operations role, and it sits right at the centre of how our projects run. Most of your time will be spent planning and organising the day-to-day, from scheduling trades, ordering materials and booking deliveries to keeping projects on programme, split between our office and regular visits to sites to check progress and quality. There is also a practical, hands-on element from time to time: setting a site up when a new project starts or collecting materials when needed. It's a varied role for someone who is highly organised, enjoys keeping lots of plates spinning, and is equally comfortable at a desk, on site, or occasionally rolling their sleeves up to get a job moving.
There is no fixed weekly routine. The mix of office coordination, site visits and hands-on tasks changes from week to week depending on what our projects need. Some weeks will be more office-based, others busier on site or more hands-on, such as setting up a new site or collecting materials. A flexible, adaptable approach is important.
What You'll Do
- Plan and coordinate the day-to-day running of live projects, scheduling subcontractors, ordering materials and booking deliveries so everything arrives on site at the right time.
- Speak with our clients regularly and professionally, keeping them updated, answering their questions and representing Tier One well throughout their project.
- Obtain and check prices from suppliers to secure good value and help keep every project on or under budget.
- Keep subcontractors and suppliers aligned and informed so everyone knows what's happening and when.
- Keep our systems and paperwork up to date, including programmes, payment schedules, health & safety records and our project management system (Monday.com).
- Visit live sites regularly to check on progress and quality and make sure works are running to programme.
- Handle the occasional hands-on task that keeps a job moving, such as setting up sites when a new project starts (Harris fencing, welfare, signage) and collecting or dropping off materials as needed.
- Help resolve day-to-day issues quickly and keep projects on track.
- Support health & safety and compliance across our sites.
- Learn to price variations and support with budgeting as you grow into the role.
- Keep management updated on progress and capture the occasional photo or video of our projects for marketing.
Who We're Looking For
You don't need years of management experience. Being organised and dependable matters most. We're looking for a natural coordinator who can keep several projects moving at once and isn't afraid to get hands-on when a job calls for it. You'll thrive here if you:
- Are highly organised and methodical and enjoy keeping lots of moving parts on track.
- Have some experience in or a good understanding of the building trade and how construction projects run.
- Are reliable and self-motivated and can be trusted to keep things moving without close supervision.
- Are a confident, professional communicator who is comfortable dealing with customers regularly and representing the business well.
- Are comfortable splitting your time between the office, site visits and the occasional hands-on task.
- Are confident with everyday IT tools such as email, Excel, Word.
- Are keen to learn and grow into more project management responsibility over time.
Requirements
- Full, clean UK driving licence (essential). A company van is provided for site visits and material collections; you will need your own transport to get to and from our office.
- Right to work in the UK (essential).
- Some previous experience in, or a solid understanding of, the building or construction industry (essential).
- Physically fit and able to carry out occasional manual handling, such as lifting and moving materials and setting up sites, as some physical work comes with the role.
- Flexible and adaptable, comfortable with your week changing depending on what our projects need.
- A willingness to learn our way of working and grow with the business.
What We Offer
- Salary of £30,000–£35,000 per year, depending on experience.
- Company van provided for site visits and material collections.
- On-site parking.
- Predominantly Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend work when a project requires it.
- Genuine progression into project management as you prove yourself, with training and support along the way.
