SIA Door Supervisor – Carpe Diem Services (CDS)
Overview
Carpe Diem Services (CDS) is looking for professional, reliable and confident SIA Door Supervisors to join our growing security team.
With an expanding portfolio of licensed venues, events and security operations, we are looking for individuals who take pride in their work and understand that professional security is about much more than simply standing on a door. Our teams are expected to provide a visible, approachable and professional presence, protecting our clients, their staff, customers and premises while delivering excellent customer service.
As an SIA Door Supervisor with CDS, you will work across a variety of assignments, including licensed premises, bars and hospitality venues, sporting fixtures, festivals, public events and other security operations.
You will often be the first point of contact for customers entering a venue, meaning your attitude, appearance and communication are just as important as your ability to respond effectively when an incident occurs.
We expect our staff to be proactive rather than reactive — identifying potential problems early, communicating effectively and taking appropriate action before situations escalate.
Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities may vary depending on the venue or assignment but will typically include:
* Managing access and egress while ensuring only authorised or eligible persons enter restricted or licensed areas.
* Conducting appropriate ID and age-verification checks in accordance with licensing requirements and individual venue policies.
* Carrying out searches and bag checks where required, professionally and respectfully.
* Maintaining awareness of capacity levels, queues, crowd movement and potential safety concerns.
* Providing a strong but approachable security presence throughout the venue or event.
* Monitoring customer behaviour and identifying potential issues before they develop into incidents.
* Using effective communication and conflict-management/de-escalation techniques wherever appropriate.
* Responding professionally to disorder, aggression, intoxication, anti-social behaviour and other security concerns.
* Supporting venue management and colleagues with the safe removal of individuals where necessary and lawful.
* Protecting staff, customers, property and assets from theft, damage, disorder and other security risks.
* Conducting regular patrols and identifying potential hazards, vulnerabilities or suspicious activity.
* Monitoring CCTV systems where appropriately trained and authorised.
* Supporting emergency procedures, including evacuations, medical incidents and liaison with emergency services.
* Providing basic first-aid assistance where trained and required.
* Completing accurate incident reports, shift records and other required documentation.
* Preserving evidence and providing clear factual accounts following incidents where necessary.
* Following all CDS operational procedures, assignment instructions and client-specific requirements.
* Maintaining confidentiality and acting professionally when handling sensitive information or incidents.
* Ensuring your SIA licence is displayed and all licensing conditions are followed while on duty.
* Arriving on time, correctly presented and ready to begin work at the required start time.
What We Expect
At CDS, the standard of service delivered to our clients is extremely important. Every member of our team represents the company while on assignment.
We expect our Door Supervisors to demonstrate:
* Professionalism – maintaining high standards of conduct, appearance and communication.
* Reliability – attending confirmed shifts on time and communicating appropriately if genuine issues arise.
* Situational awareness – remaining alert and actively observing what is happening around you.
* Customer service – treating customers, venue staff and colleagues with dignity and respect.
* Confidence – being comfortable making appropriate decisions and enforcing venue policies.
* Communication – providing clear information to colleagues, management, customers and emergency services.
* Teamwork – supporting colleagues and understanding that effective security depends on the whole team.
* Integrity – acting honestly, fairly and professionally at all times.
* Accountability – taking responsibility for your position, duties and actions.
* Attention to detail – understanding that small checks, observations and interventions can prevent much larger problems.
Essential Requirements
Applicants must:
* Hold a valid frontline SIA Door Supervisor licence.
* Have the legal right to work in the UK.
* Be able to provide the required right-to-work and identification documentation.
* Have good spoken and written English for customer interaction and incident reporting.
* Be confident dealing with members of the public.
* Be able to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
* Be willing to work evenings, nights and weekends depending on operational requirements.
* Be able to follow company procedures and client-specific assignment instructions.
* Maintain a professional standard of appearance while representing CDS.
Desirable Experience
Previous security or hospitality experience is beneficial but is not the only factor we consider.
Experience in any of the following would be advantageous:
* Licensed premises and nightlife security.
* Event security and crowd management.
* Sporting events.
* Festivals and large public events.
* Corporate or static security.
* CCTV monitoring.
* Conflict management and de-escalation.
* First aid.
* Customer-facing hospitality roles.
We also welcome applications from newly licensed Door Supervisors who have the right attitude, professionalism and willingness to learn. Where appropriate, successful applicants will receive site-specific briefings and operational guidance before deployment.
What CDS Offers
Joining CDS means becoming part of a security company that is continuing to grow its operations across Edinburgh, the surrounding areas and the wider events sector.
Successful applicants can benefit from:
* A variety of security assignments rather than being limited to one type of work.
* Opportunities across licensed venues, events and other security operations.
* Regular weekend and event-season opportunities.
* The opportunity to build experience across different environments.
* Support from an experienced operational management team.
* Opportunities for increased responsibility for individuals who consistently demonstrate reliability, leadership and high standards.
* The chance to grow alongside an expanding security company.
We are looking for people who want to become part of the team, not simply individuals looking to fill a space on a rota.
If you are reliable, professional, proactive and committed to maintaining high standards of safety and customer service, we would like to hear from you.
