Window Technician
Overview
Building Finishing Services UK Ltd (BFS) is seeking an experienced and reliable Window Technician to join our growing repairs and maintenance team.
The successful candidate will carry out the repair, maintenance, installation and replacement of a wide range of window and door systems across residential and commercial properties throughout Edinburgh and the Central Belt. Working as part of a professional multi-trade team, you will deliver high-quality workmanship while providing excellent customer service and ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Repair, maintain and replace uPVC, timber and aluminium windows and doors.
- Diagnose faults including failed glazing units, damaged hinges, locks, handles, restrictors, seals and adjustment issues.
- Install replacement glazing, window furniture and associated components.
- Carry out planned and responsive maintenance works in occupied and void properties.
- Inspect existing installations and recommend appropriate repair or replacement solutions.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, specifications and manufacturers' instructions.
- Ensure all work complies with current Building Regulations, health and safety legislation and company procedures.
- Complete job records, photographs and documentation accurately using company systems.
- Maintain company vehicles, tools and equipment in a clean, safe and serviceable condition.
- Work collaboratively with other trades including joiners, glaziers, plasterers and decorators to deliver completed projects.
- Provide a professional and courteous service when dealing with customers, tenants and clients.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Previous experience repairing and maintaining windows and doors.
- Good knowledge of uPVC, timber and aluminium window systems.
- Competent in using a wide range of hand and power tools.
- Ability to diagnose faults and identify practical repair solutions.
- Excellent attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality work.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
- Experience within social housing or responsive repairs.
- Glazing or fenestration qualifications.
- CSCS Card.
- IPAF or PASMA certification. (?)

Pay: £35,000.00-£38,000.00 per year
