Full job description

Position Title: Event Assistant

Duration: Fixed term contract (03/08/2026 - 30/09/2026).

Hours: 12-20hrs / week positions available

The position will involve evening shifts throughout August, followed by a combination of day and evening shifts in September. Typical shift times during August will be approximately 4:00pm to 10:00pm.

Possibility to continue after September.

Once the academic term resumes, students's shifts will be assigned to fit around course schedules.

Pay rate: £13.45/h

We are currently seeking dedicated and reliable individuals to join a vibrant five-star visitor centre in the heart of Edinburgh as an Event Assistant.

Our diverse team, comprised of individuals from various backgrounds, creates a dynamic and inclusive environment that celebrates Scotland's rich whisky heritage year-round.

A peek into the position

As an Event Hospitality staff, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the smooth operation of events. You will work as part of the front-of-house to ensure a seamless dining experience for guests. From assisting with food and beverage service to maintaining cleanliness and organisation, you will contribute to creating a welcoming atmosphere that exceeds customer expectations.

Your role in a nutshell

- Set up event spaces according to client specifications

- Serve food and beverages to guests with a professional and friendly demeanor

- Assist in the preparation and breakdown of events

- Ensure cleanliness and organisation of service areas

- Collaborate with team members to deliver seamless service

- Address guest inquiries and provide exceptional customer service

- Follow all safety and hygiene protocols to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your teammates.

-Perform additional duties as assigned by management to support the overall operation of the restaurant.
