Legal Assistant (Self-Employed Contractor)

£20.00 per hour

Location: Carmondean South, Livingston (next to Livingston North railway station)

Hours: 10 hours per week

Tuesday afternoon – 4 hours
Friday – 6 hours

Contract: Self-Employed Contractor

Work Basis: Office-based

About Jam Virtual Support

Jam Virtual Support is a growing legal support business based in Livingston. We provide legal administration and paralegal support to self-employed solicitors, consultants and law firms across the UK, helping them spend less time on administration and more time supporting their clients.

We're looking for an experienced Legal Assistant to join our team and support us as we continue to grow.

The Role

This is a self-employed contractor role, providing regular weekly support with legal administration, including:

Opening new client files
Managing new enquiries, drafting client care letters and facilitating client onboarding
AML and compliance checks
Conflict and risk assessments
Bundling
Email management
Preparing invoices
Managing legal files and documentation
General legal administrative support
From time to time, providing administrative support to one of our property investment businesses, including general business administration and organisation.

The successful contractor will invoice monthly for hours worked.

There is potential to progress to more advanced paralegal style work such as contract reviews, legal research and drafting applications.

What We're Looking For

Essential

Previous experience as a Legal Assistant, Legal Secretary or Paralegal
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
Strong communication and client care skills
Confident using Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook and Excel)
Able to work independently and use initiative

Desirable

Experience using LEAP Legal Software or other case management systems

We're looking for someone who is reliable, organised and takes pride in producing high-quality work.

We work hard, enjoy what we do and have a friendly office culture, but we're also trusted by legal professionals with important client work. We're looking for someone who shares those values and enjoys being part of a supportive team, and who is also happy to work on a self-employed basis.

What We Offer

Initial rate of £20 per hour, Potential of increasing to to £25 per hour
Regular weekly work (10 hours)
Opportunity for additional hours as the business grows

Application Process

Suitable applicants will receive an initial telephone call, followed by an interview, which will include a short practical task.

Please note: This is a self-employed contractor position, and the successful applicant will be responsible for invoicing for the hours worked.

Interviews:

· Closing date – Monday 20 July (although we may close this ad sooner should we find the right applicant beforehand)

· Interviews are scheduled to take place on Friday the 24 July, with a start date of Tuesday 4 August.

Pay: £20.00 per hour
