Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Health Care Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will provide high-quality support to our registered patients. This role offers an excellent opportunity to make a positive difference in people's lives while developing your skills within the healthcare sector.

The post is for 37 hours a week, working Monday to Friday. If a day off is wanted through the week, this can be accommodated.

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

Carrying out NHS health checks and routine patient assessments
Recording accurate patient observations, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, height, weight, and BMI
Taking blood samples (phlebotomy) and performing basic clinical procedures (where trained)
Wound Management
Carrying out ECGs and other diagnostic tests as required
Supporting chronic disease reviews and preventative health programmes
Providing lifestyle advice and health promotion support within your competency
Preparing clinical rooms and ensuring equipment is clean, safe, and well maintained
Assisting practice nurses and clinicians with patient care
Maintaining accurate and confidential patient records in line with GDPR and practice policies
Following infection prevention and control procedures

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

Caring, professional, and committed to providing excellent patient care
Able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
Reliable, organised, and able to prioritise workload
Confident communicating with patients and colleagues
Respectful of patient confidentiality and dignity

Essential Skills & Experience

Previous experience working as a Health Care Assistant, preferably within primary care
Experience of phlebotomy and clinical observations
Wound Management
Understanding of confidentiality, safeguarding, and infection control
Good IT skills and ability to maintain accurate records

Desirable

Experience working in a GP practice or primary care setting
Completion of relevant HCA training qualifications
Experience using SystmOne
Experience supporting long-term condition management

Pay: From £13.50 per hour
