Care Assurance provides care and support to vulnerable people, working across London Boroughs and surrounding areas. Care Assurance provide services within individuals own homes and group living settings for individual with learning disabilities, mental health concerns and young individuals that are care leavers.

Our purpose is to provide the individuals we work with the tools and resources they need to live secure, valued lives which allow them to be as independent as possible.

Job Title - Deputy Manager

Reports To - Registered Manager

Job Purpose

The Deputy Manager will support the Registered Manager and Operations Manager in the operational leadership and management of Care Assurances services within the North London area, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led services in accordance with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) Fundamental Standards and all relevant legislation.

This is a hands-on, front facing role working in service, alongside the Support Team and includes participation in on-call duties. The Deputy Manager will provide visible leadership, support staff development, oversee compliance, and ensure people receive high-quality, person-centred support that promotes independence, choice, dignity, inclusion and positive outcomes.

The post holder will support adults with a range of needs including:

Learning disabilities
Autism
Mental health conditions
Behaviours of concern
Care leavers transitioning into independent or supported accommodation
Individuals with multiple and complex needs

The Deputy Manager will actively promote positive risk-taking, safeguarding, human rights, equality and inclusion while supporting people to achieve their personal aspirations and maximise independence.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership and Management

Support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day management of their services.
Lead, motivate, coach and develop Support Workers to deliver consistently high-quality, person-centred support.
Lead by example, modelling the organisation's values and expected standards of professional practice.
Work alongside support staff during shifts, providing practical support and leadership.
Ensure staffing levels are safe and effective through efficient rota planning and workforce deployment.
Participate in the management on-call.
Promote a positive culture of openness, accountability, learning and continuous improvement.
Monitor staff performance and address capability or conduct concerns in accordance with organisational policies.
Support with pre-admission assessments, transitions and referral management.

Person-Centred Care and Support

Ensure every person receives compassionate, personalised support tailored to their assessed needs, preferences and aspirations.
Develop, implement, review and evaluate person-centred support plans and risk assessments.
Promote independence, informed choice and positive risk-taking while maintaining safety.
Work collaboratively with families, advocates, commissioners and multidisciplinary professionals.
Deliver direct support where required

Quality and Compliance

Ensure the service operates in accordance with the relevant legislation, including;

Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014
CQC Fundamental Standards
Care Act 2014

Responsibilities include:

Supporting the Registered Manager to maintain CQC compliance.
Completing audits, quality assurance visits, observations and compliance checks.
Monitoring incidents, accidents and complaints to identify trends and implement improvements.
Supporting service improvement plans and quality initiatives.
Ensuring accurate electronic and written records are maintained.

Safeguarding

Promote a culture where safeguarding is everyone's responsibility.

Medication Management

Ensure medicines are administered, recorded, stored and disposed of safely in accordance with legislation and organisational policy.

Health and Safety

Ensure a safe environment for the people supported, visitors and staff.
Monitor environmental risks and ensure appropriate risk assessments are completed.

Partnership Working

Develop positive working relationships with families, local authorities, brokerage teams, commissioners and all other professionals involved in the lives of the individuals we support

Represent the organisation professionally at meetings and reviews.

Person Specification

Essential

Qualifications

Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care (or equivalent).
Willingness to undertake Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Adult Care if not already achieved.

Experience

Minimum three years' experience within adult social care.
Experience supporting people with:
Learning disabilities & Autism, Mental health conditions, Complex physical disabilities and Care leavers
Experience in a supervisory role including Senior Support Worker, Team Leader or other senior role.
Experience writing and reviewing person-centred support plans and risk assessments.
Experience managing staff performance, supervision and development.
Experience undertaking audits and quality monitoring.
Experience working with external professionals and multidisciplinary teams.
Good understanding of CQC inspection processes.
