The role
We are seeking a detail-oriented Lighting Design Engineer to join our dedicated Design team in Bradford. This role is ideal for a candidate looking to advance their career by supporting the full lifecycle of the design process, from initial survey to final submission.
We also welcome applications from individuals with transferable electrical design skills who are eager to specialise in the highways and lighting sector.
Role and responsibilities;
What your role will include:
- Design & Technical Delivery: Undertaking comprehensive lighting designs using Lighting Reality and performing electrical cable calculations within Trimble Pro (AMTECH).
- Drafting & Visualisation: Preparing precise drawings for approval using AutoCAD LT and assisting in the production of standard detail drawings.
- Site Assessment: Carrying out physical site surveys and assessments of existing highway infrastructure to inform design accuracy.
- Data & Compliance: Entering project submission data in strict accordance with internal Quality Management System (QMS) procedures and producing technical reports and specifications.
- Collaboration: Liaising closely with internal Designers and the Design Manager on a project-by-project basis to ensure seamless delivery.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Interfacing with clients, consultants, and external stakeholders to build effective relationships and represent the company’s design capabilities.
- Industry Representation: Supporting the strategic growth of the department by representing the company at relevant industry events and forums.
Essential criteria
Who we are looking for:
- Experience: Previous experience as a Lighting Design Engineer, preferably within Street Lighting, with a proven track record of using AutoCAD LT and Lighting Reality.
- Qualifications: A formal qualification in Electrical Engineering, Design, or a closely related technical subject.
- Technical Skills: High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams) and the ability to navigate complex design software effectively.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal skills for collaborating with internal departments and presenting technical information to clients.
- Driving Licence: A full UK driving licence and a willingness to travel nationally to conduct site surveys and attend meetings.
- Attention to Detail: A proactive approach to maintaining high standards of accuracy in technical drawings and project documentation.
