About the role
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Digital Transformation Manager to join our Ground Engineering team in Basingstoke.
Role purpose: The role will principally be providing oversight over all digitalisation initiatives across the business, including work winning, construction, engineering and the supporting functions. With a thriving projects business, client requirements and an industry ripe for productivity gain, we are investing heavily in our digital transformation strategy and implementation.
The role offers the opportunity to play a pivotal part in the business’s future, including development of real time dashboarding, AI initiatives, plant utilisation optimisation, driving safety and productivity performance through connecting people with data thus helping to drive our journey, working alongside an innovative senior management team. We also see a volume of new software requiring rollout from Balfour Beatty Group for which you will oversee.
What you'll be doing
The successful candidate will have the following accountabilities:
- Identify opportunities: Evaluate current processes and workflows to identify areas where digital solutions can be explored and implemented to improve productivity, automate tasks and streamline;
- Establish rapport: Identify and build strong and effective relationships at all levels;
- Ideation: Formulate ideas and concepts that will bring about benefits and analyse if they should be pursued or not – bring these business cases to gate for approval;
- Develop: Implement strategies that align to increasing productivity, sustainability, safety and quality through effective digital transformation;
- Change: Implement effectively, striking a balance between time, cost and quality with a relentless focus on benefits realisation;
- Project Management: Develop and lead the implementation of change leveraging a people process and technology approach;
- Collaborate: Work closely with various departments, including IT, operations and engineering to understand their needs and provide digital solutions;
- Lead: Provide effective leadership to your team and stakeholders;
- Monitor and Evaluate: Continuously monitor the performance of digital initiatives and make necessary adjustments to achieve optimal results;
- Reporting: Drive a data informed approach enabling a transition to more data-based performance and compliance measurement.
Who we're looking for
The following qualities/experience are essential:
- Recognised construction or engineering industry experience;
- Experience of using digital tools and processes;
- Able to lead on the use of Digital Software applications and train others;
- A proven record of establishing effective relationships at all levels;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Able to deliver in a collaborative manner when under time pressure;
- Experience of working collaboratively in either a consultant or contractor environment and delivery of a Large complex infrastructure scheme;
- Proficiency in IT and experience in multiple Digital processes on pervious schemes;
- Able to create effective relationships with the project team, supply chain partners and clients under time pressure to deliver Client and Project goals.
The following qualities/experience are preferred:
- BSc, MSc, BEng, MEng, HND/HDC (or qualified by experience) with an understanding and proven delivery of a complex infrastructure scheme or managing multiple schemes in a sector;
- Project Management qualification i.e. PRINCE2 or APMP;
- Full understanding of Design, Construction, Asset Management Stages in the Digital lifecycle;
- Understanding multiple digital techniques and ability to train /mentor and develop other team members.
