About Us
We are a fast-growing, premium B2B home fragrance company designing and manufacturing high-end candles, diffusers, and room sprays in the UK. Our strategic and creative heart is in London, but our engine room is our dedicated production facility in Hertfordshire. After 3 years of explosive growth, we are transitioning from a scrappy startup to a streamlined, process-driven operation. We are looking for a steady, detail-oriented leader to run our daily physical production and maintain our world-class quality standards.
The Role
As our Lead Production Artisan & Warehouse Supervisor, you won’t just sit in an office—you will be the master of the production floor. This is a highly physical, tactile, and execution-focused role. You will be responsible for translating production plans from our London HQ into beautifully finished, perfectly cured, and flawlessly packed products.
You do not necessarily need to have made candles before (we have a fully digitized manufacturing system with exact recipes), but you must have an obsession with precision, timing, temperatures, and physical quality control.
Key Responsibilities
- Physical Production Execution: Oversee and actively participate in the daily melting, blending, pouring, curing, and packing of our home fragrance ranges.
- Process & Quality Control: Strictly adhere to digital recipes, monitoring critical variables like melting points, fragrance flashpoints, pour temperatures, and room ambient conditions. Ensure zero-defect output.
- Team Supervision: Lead, motivate, and manage our 2–3 warehouse production assistants, ensuring daily pour targets and packing schedules are met safely and efficiently.
- Inventory & Stock Integrity: Utilize our digital manufacturing system to log batch data, track raw component usage (wax, ceramics, wicks, fragrance), and flag any variances to London HQ.
- Warehouse Organization: Maintain a pristine, lean, and highly organized working environment. Ensure strict health and safety protocols are followed.
- Autonomy and Trust: We don’t micromanage. Once you know our systems, we trust you to own the production floor, manage your team, and take pride in your domain.
- We are a small, tight-knit team of 6–7 people across our London HQ and Hertfordshire warehouse. We don’t do corporate red tape, pointless meetings, or invisible hierarchies. Here, you are not just a cog in a massive machine - you are a foundational pillar of our growth.
About You
You are likely a master of a physical trade or process. You love the satisfaction of creating a beautiful, tangible product and thrive in an environment where precision dictates the outcome.
We would love to hear from you if you have experience as a:
- Chocolatier, pastry chef, or commercial baker (used to strict temperatures, timings, and recipes).
- Compounding technician in cosmetics, skincare, or pharmaceuticals.
- Production supervisor or assistant in a micro-brewery, distillery, or boutique food FMCG.
- High-volume artisan maker or studio manager.
Required Skills & Experience
- The "Artisan's Eye": Exceptional attention to physical detail. You notice a crooked wick, a smudged label, or a cooling flaw from across the room.
- Process-Driven: You follow instructions to the letter and believe that shortcuts ruin quality.
- Natural Leader: You lead by example on the floor. You are calm under pressure, clear in your communication, and know how to keep a small team focused and happy.
- Tech-Literate: Comfortable using modern software (ERP/Manufacturing systems, tablets) to log daily production data.
- Physical Stamina: This is a active, on-your-feet role that involves lifting raw materials (e.g., wax blocks, ceramic pallets) and working with industrial melting equipment.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary / day rate (dependent on experience).
- A highly supportive, collaborative relationship with the London HQ team.
- The opportunity to shape and optimize a growing production facility.
- A clear pathway to a permanent, long-term leadership role as the company continues to scale.
Pay: £27,000.00-£36,000.00 per year
Benefits:
- Company pension
- Employee discount
- Free parking
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Bishop's Stortford CM22 7TZ: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
Application question(s):
- This is a highly active, on-the-floor role in our Hertfordshire warehouse involving melting, pouring, and heavy lifting (up to 25kg) alongside your team. Are you comfortable with a role that is roughly 80% physical production and 20% admin?
- Our home fragrance products rely on strict adherence to temperatures, weights, and recipes. Please briefly describe a past role where you had to manage strict process controls or recipes (e.g., in cosmetics, commercial baking/kitchens, chemistry, or precision manufacturing).
- In our Hertfordshire warehouse, you will be leading a small team of just 2–3 production assistants. How do you approach motivating a small team and maintaining high quality standards when you are working right alongside them on the floor?
