Full job description

Salary: £27,716 – £29,848 (per annum)

6-35 hours per week. Three roles available. Night shifts across a 7-day rota (including weekends and bank holidays)

About the Role

As a Night Detox Support Worker, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe, calm, and supportive environment overnight, supporting individuals who may be experiencing withdrawal symptoms, anxiety, or disrupted sleep.

You’ll carry out regular checks, respond to concerns, and ensure that everyone in the service feels safe and supported throughout the night.

This role requires someone who can work independently, stay calm under pressure, and provide consistent, compassionate care.

What You’ll Be Doing

Provide safe, consistent overnight support

Carry out regular welfare checks and observations
Monitor individuals experiencing withdrawal and respond appropriately
Escalate concerns to on-call or clinical staff where required

Create a calm and supportive environment

Maintain a quiet, structured setting that supports rest and recovery
Offer reassurance and emotional support during times of distress or discomfort

Respond to risk and maintain safety

Manage overnight incidents and safeguarding concerns
Respond to alarms, emergencies, or health and safety risks
Ensure a zero-tolerance approach to substance use within the service

Support smooth service delivery

Complete accurate records, reports, and handovers
Support late or unplanned admissions where needed
Maintain the safety and security of the building overnight

Be part of a values-led team

Uphold Recovery Connections values, policies, and CQC standards
Maintain professional boundaries and promote dignity and respect
Participate in training, supervision, and team development

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who is calm, compassionate, and resilient, with a genuine belief in recovery.

Knowledge & Values

Understanding of substance use, recovery, and social exclusion
Knowledge of recovery approaches such as 12-step and SMART Recovery
A strong commitment to equality, dignity, and inclusion

Experience

Experience supporting individuals in recovery or similar settings
Experience of lone working and managing risk
Experience in residential or detox environments (desirable)

Skills & Attributes

Ability to stay calm and make decisions under pressure
Strong communication and observation skills
Empathetic, non-judgemental, and supportive approach
Ability to work independently while staying connected to the wider team

Qualifications

NVQ Level 2 (or above) in Health & Social Care (or willingness to complete — fully funded)
