Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Site Operational Lead to assist with daily operations primarily within our Geotechnical Division in the Southwest region. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with planning, logistics, ensuring operational efficiency, and maintaining high standards of quality and safety on various projects across the Southwest and occasionally beyond. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with few years experience working with heavy plant and machinery, dynamic environments and with a keen eye for detail to plan the operational delivery of projects alongside a team of Geotechnical Engineers, skilled workforce and under the guidance of the Regional Manager, all fully supported by our head quarters in west Wales and our geotechnical hub in South Wales. The Site Operational Lead will play a pivotal role in coordinating activities across departments, implementing strategic initiatives, and supporting organisational goals, and most importantly ensuring our high health, safety and environmental standards are upheld. The role will involve an element of 'hands on' heavy plant operating and understanding of such machinery, its limitations and suitability for the task in hand.

Responsibilities

Lead and assist operational teams, project managers and field engineers to ensure projects are completed efficiently and effectively
Assist with site walkovers, assessing access/ egress, logistics, and viability of site works both at tender stage and at delivery stage
Planning the type of resources required to deliver a project i.e. plant. labour and material
Monitor daily activities, identify areas for improvement, and initiate corrective actions
Coordinate with other departments to ensure seamless workflow and communication
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations across all operational areas
Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, accountability, and professionalism

Requirements

Proven experience in an operational role with sound mechanical and machinery knowledge to allow selection of the 'right tool for the job'. Some experience of land drilling rigs useful but not essential.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
Excellent communication skills - vital to ensuring the successful delivery of projects, liaisng between project managers, engineers and ops teams.
Ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams towards achieving organisational objectives, with a hands-on approach
Problem-solving mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
Knowledge of health and safety regulations relevant to the industry
Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and operational needs
Enthusiasm to still learn

The successful candidate will be instrumental in driving operational excellence while fostering a collaborative team culture.

Pay: £35,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
