Business Support Assistant (Commercial & Operations)
12-Month Fixed Term Contract
Location: Remote with the ability to commute to London and Farnham at least once a month and as required
Hours: Full time
Contract: 12-month fixed term contract
Reports to: CCO
Job Summary
Certino is a specialist platform for global mobility tax calculation and shadow payroll. We help enterprise clients, accountancy firms, global mobility technology and relocation partners deliver consistent, audit-ready expatriate tax calculations across multiple jurisdictions.
We are a small, collaborative, entrepreneurial company where you’ll be expected to get stuck in from day one. This role reports directly to the CCO, with a dotted line to our Tax Managers. We are an “all in it together”organisation and therefore relationship skills, confidence and a positive “find a way to make it happen” mindset are essential.
We are looking for a bright, organised and commercially curious Business Support Assistant to join us on a 12-month fixed term contract. This is an ideal opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career candidate who wants broad exposure to a growing B2B technology business.
The primary focus of the role will be supporting Certino’s commercial activity. This will include prospect research, target account mapping, cold outreach support, CRM management, meeting preparation and follow-up tracking. Alongside this, the role will also support our tax operations activity, including helping prepare, review and organise customer data for managed customer delivery.
This is a broad business support role rather than a narrow sales administration role. It will suit someone who is highly organised, comfortable with detail, willing to learn quickly and keen to make themselves useful across both commercial and operational work.
We are also looking for someone who is comfortable using modern tools, including AI platforms, to work efficiently. The successful candidate will be someone who constantly looks for smarter, controlled and accurate ways to approach their work.
Our colleagues are based in Switzerland and throughout the UK, including Wales, Scotland and London. Though we’ve always operated remotely and will continue to do so, we value face to face time. We would be keen for this role to spend time with key colleagues in Farnham and London particularly in their first few months when learning the business, and then intermittently as required.
Certino is a small, specialist business, which means the role will not suit someone looking for a highly structured graduate scheme environment. You will receive support, context and guidance, but you must be comfortable working autonomously, managing your own workload and moving tasks forward under your own steam.
In return, you will get real exposure to the business and the freedom to make a visible contribution. If you spot a better way to do something, a useful target market to explore, a process that could be improved, or a tool that could make the team more effective, we will encourage you to test it, shape it and make it useful.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Support
- Research target companies, partner organisations and key decision-makers across global mobility, tax, payroll, relocation and HR technology markets.
- Build and maintain high-quality prospect lists, ensuring contact and company data is accurate, relevant and clearly segmented.
- Support cold outreach activity, including LinkedIn research, email preparation, contact mapping and campaign tracking.
- Help identify useful outreach triggers, such as company growth, new partnerships, hiring activity, relevant market commentary or changes in service offering.
- Draft and refine outreach messages, follow-up notes and supporting materials under guidance from the commercial team.
- Ownership and management of HubSpot & Dripify, ensuring companies, contacts, lead status, notes, activity history and next actions are kept accurate and up to date.
- Track responses, follow-ups and next steps to help ensure commercial opportunities do not go cold.
- Help maintain sales collateral, one-pagers, presentation materials and other commercial documentation.
- Spot patterns in outreach activity and help identify which markets, messages or target accounts appear to be gaining traction.
- Use AI and LLM tools appropriately to support research, summarisation, drafting and market analysis, while checking outputs carefully and applying sound judgement.
Tax Operations & Customer Data Support
- Support the preparation, checking and organisation of customer data for managed customer activity.
- Review incoming data for completeness, formatting issues and obvious exceptions before it moves into the calculation process.
- Help maintain clear records of files received, actions taken, open queries and delivery status.
- Work with internal & external tools to support accurate and well-controlled customer delivery.
- Assist with basic data preparation tasks, including formatting, sorting, checking and reconciling information.
- Escalate issues clearly where data is missing, inconsistent or requires review by a more experienced team member.
- Support the wider team in ensuring customer data is handled carefully, consistently and in line with internal processes.
- Use appropriate tools to improve the efficiency of repeatable data preparation and review tasks, while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.
About You
We are more interested in attitude, intelligence and reliability than years of experience. You may be a recent graduate, or you may have limited work experience but a strong interest in business, technology, commercial operations or data-led customer delivery.
You will likely be a good fit if you are:
- Commercially curious, with an interest in how businesses grow, win customers and build partnerships.
- Confident in researching companies, people and markets, and able to turn that research into useful insight.
- Highly organised self starter, with the ability to manage multiple tasks without losing track of detail.
- Comfortable working with spreadsheets, structured data and business systems.
- A clear written communicator who can draft professional, concise and accurate messages.
- Careful and accurate, particularly when handling customer data or CRM records.
- Proactive and willing to get stuck into a wide range of tasks.
- Comfortable working in a small business where priorities can move quickly.
- Interested in technology, automation and using tools such as HubSpot, LinkedIn and AI/LLMs to work more effectively.
- Comfortable using AI tools to support research, drafting, problem-solving and data review, while applying judgement, checking outputs carefully and handling sensitive data appropriately.
- Positive, low-ego and willing to learn.
You do not need prior experience in global mobility, tax or payroll. We will provide support and guidance. What matters most is that you are bright, reliable, detail-oriented and keen to develop.
