Job Overview

We are seeking a motivated and customer-focused Food Van Crew Member to join our dynamic team. This role involves providing excellent service and food preparation in a fast-paced environment, ensuring customers enjoy a memorable experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and serving food, maintaining cleanliness, and upselling menu items to maximise sales. Previous experience in food service or restaurant environments is advantageous but not essential, as full training will be provided. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work outdoors, interact with diverse customers, and develop valuable skills within the food industry.

Responsibilities

Prepare and serve a variety of food items according to company standards and health and safety regulations
Take orders from customers efficiently and accurately, ensuring prompt service
Maintain cleanliness of the van’s interior and exterior, including food preparation areas and serving counters
Handle cash transactions and operate POS systems with accuracy
Upsell menu items to maximise sales opportunities while providing friendly customer service
Ensure compliance with food safety standards at all times
Restock supplies as needed during shifts to ensure smooth operation
Assist in setting up and packing down the van at the start and end of each shift
Manage time effectively to serve customers promptly during busy periods
Support with set up, cleaning and close down of food van for events

Experience

Previous experience in food preparation, serving, or restaurant environments is desirable but not essential; training will be provided for all duties
Knowledge of food safety procedures and basic hygiene practices is advantageous
Familiarity with kitchen or culinary tasks can be beneficial
Strong organisational skills with good time management abilities
Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced setting
Excellent communication skills with a friendly attitude towards customers
Basic maths skills for handling cash transactions accurately
