Full job description

Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Editor to join our team. As an Editor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy, clarity, and quality of our written content. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in journalism and possess excellent communication and editing skills.

Duties:

attending and reporting on news events and council meetings, gathering and sourcing news, following up stories, writing articles
producing good quality and accurate work for magazines, web and social media content
good knowledge of social media
editing, proofreading and photography skills
setting up magazine templates
answering the telephone and dealing with enquiries
liaising with other departments and clients
checking and dealing with emails
interviewing, writing advertorials and undertaking reviews
checking magazines before they go to print
sourcing competitions and administering them

Experience:

Have a good knowledge of English
Be highly organised and able to meet regular deadlines
Good reporting and interview technique
Knowledge of media production
Be thorough and pay attention to detail
Excellent communication skills
Ability to work well with others at all levels
Be flexible and open to change
Computer literate and understand main software packages
Quick thinking and able to report on events as they unfold
Dedicated to covering local news stories and events
Ability to work under pressure of deadlines
NCTJ qualification or equivalent required
A full, clean driving licence is essential
A car is necessary and mileage allowance will be given

Working hours: The hours are Mon-Thurs 9am-4.30pm and Fri 9am-4pm, however, we envisage the Friday to be a flexible day, as we will need someone who can cover events on weekends and evenings.
