Senior Care Assistant

Location: Druid Stoke Care Home, 31 Druid Stoke Ave, Bristol BS9 1DE

Salary: £13.25 - £14.84 per hour depending on experience

Contract: Permanent

Hours: 44 hours - night shifts - including alternate weekends

CQC rating: Good

About Druid Stoke Care Home

Druid Stoke is a beautiful and friendly home welcoming anyone aged over 50. The home offers a wide range of care including residential, nursing, respite and palliative care, as well as day care options.

Alongside professional care, the accommodation has been designed to offer a good lifestyle, with tastefully furnished rooms, bright decor, high ceilings and comfy sofas to welcome visitors. Many of the bedrooms offer en-suite facilities, and all have a 24-hour call system in place.

Set among stunning gardens with terraces, lawns and patios, Druid Stoke also has a rockery and ponds with koi carp.

A traditional dining room is ideal for mealtimes, with special diets and tastes accounted for. The home celebrates special occasions like birthdays with a personalised birthday cake.

Residents have the freedom to choose if they would like to participate in activities. Local entertainers regularly visit, and there is an activities room where residents can continue their interests and hobbies.

As a Senior Care Assistant, we understand how crucial your role is to our home. Not only driving a team of Care Assistants that deliver high quality, personal care to our residents, but also inspiring, developing, and nurturing them to be their best every day.

We'll train you on all aspects of digital care, which is transforming how we work, making things easier and letting you focus on clinical excellence and care for our residents. You'll help us make health happen by:

Day-to-day responsibility for running a unit
Supporting with clinical duties, including supporting the nurse to observe, issue medication, review care plans and accurate record keeping
Driving and managing a team of Care Assistants, including responsible for all shift handovers of the teams
Helping with training and supervision of new staff members so they feel welcomed and supported
Building relationships with residents, their families and external teams such as GPs and District Nurses
Assisting residents with a range of personal care duties

Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role:

You'll have completed / working towards an NVQ3 in care. We're more than happy to support you in the completion of your qualification if needed.
You're motivated, positive and with great interpersonal skills, and you enjoy working in a close-knit team. You're pivotal in running a unit, working with the Nurse to aid with clinical duties for the home.
You have previous experience of the role and knowledge of its rewards and challenges. Just as importantly, you also have a passion for making a real difference to people's lives, giving them the kindness, personalised support and dignity they need.
