Exciting opportunities are available at T-Junction Children's Services! We're delighted to announce the opening of our fifth children's home in Mansfield and are looking for a Deputy Manager to join our new service.

The post holder will be accountable to the Registered Manager (RM) and must hold a full UK driving license and be qualified with a Level 3 or 4 in Children and Young People’s Services (Residential Childcare).

The Deputy Manager will support the Registered Manager in all aspects of the day-to-day operation of the Children’s Home and supporting our children and young people. This includes fostering a caring, supportive environment that offers our young people high-quality, specialist personalised care tailored to their individual needs. They will assist the Registered Manager in supervising, monitoring and evaluating the care provided, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements with wrap around support from our Business Development Team.

Key Responsibilities

Work alongside the Registered Manager (RM) to lead and supervise the team, ensuring the highest standards of care and support for our children and young people.
Support the development of Team Leaders, Seniors and Residential Support Workers, and act as deputy for the Registered Manager when required.
Assist the Registered Manager in ensuring all homes operate efficiently and effectively
To support the home with on-call responsibilities and rota management.
Work allocated shifts in line with the staff rota and contribute to the team by carrying out Residential Support Worker responsibilities.
Support the RM in the day-to-day running of the home, including care quality planning, communication, home operations, training needs, finances and other management tasks.
Identify and assess our children and young peoples needs, involving relevant professionals and family members where appropriate, to develop personalised care planning for children and young people.
Provide exemplary care in accordance with individual care and placement plans, ensuring our core company values are consistently demonstrated and embedded within our homes.
Promote the social, emotional and developmental wellbeing of young people, encouraging continuous growth in line with Children’s Home Standards.
Maintain a comprehensive understanding of all statutory and legal requirements, including Health and Safety and Children’s Home Regulations, ensuring a safe environment at all times.
Support the RM in ensuring full compliance with legislation and regulations, including keeping key documents—such as but not limited to home and children’s risk assessments—up to date.
Keep up to date with relevant standards, legislation and inspection frameworks, implementing required changes and contributing to Ofsted and other external inspections.
Follow individual care plans and administer prescribed medication accurately, ensuring all necessary records are completed correctly.
Help foster a positive and supportive environment by maintaining strong communication and effective working relationships with young people, families, staff, external professionals, suppliers and agencies.
Assist the RM with staffing responsibilities, including, induction, training, supervision, appraisal and promoting a supportive team culture.
Support the RM in assessing and preparing for new admissions. Welcome new young people, complete required records and paperwork, and ensure appropriate arrangements are in place.
Assist the RM with transitions when young people leave our care, ensuring effective support mechanisms are provided.
Liaise professionally with external agencies, parents and carers as needed.
Promote and safeguard our children and young people, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding legislation and policy.
Work collaboratively and proactively to drive education and support for our children and young people’s educational needs.
Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by the Registered Manager.

This list is representative rather than exhaustive. The Deputy Manager will be expected to carry out any additional tasks reasonably aligned with the role.

Other Duties

Attend relevant internal and external meetings and training sessions as required.
Participate in supervision, the annual appraisal process and ongoing professional development of all team members.
Take responsibility for the health and safety of yourself and others.
Provide cover in other areas when necessary.
Secure all buildings when leaving the site.
Undertake any other appropriate duties requested by the manager.
Promote and safeguard the welfare of all children and young people in line with T Junctions’ Safeguarding Policy and Procedures.

The post holder is expected to contribute to the out-of-hours management rota. The role requires a high level of professionalism, integrity, and commitment to achieving the best outcomes for young people. With full support from the Responsible Individual and Operational Business Development Team, the Registered Manager will be well-positioned to lead a stable, resilient, and effective care service.
