Following the continued growth of our SEND Team, we are looking for an experienced and ambitious Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our successful team on a permanent basis. We are a large, successful and richly diverse comprehensive school adjacent to Calderstones Park, South Liverpool.
Our community, our diversity, our ethos and our values are not just words – they shape everything we do. We believe that every student, regardless of background, prior attainment, gender or faith, deserves a first-class education. Nobody rises to low expectations, and we hold that standard for our students and our staff alike.
The Role
Working with the SENDCO and Assistant SENDCO, you will collaborate with teachers in planning and delivering programmes of teaching and learning for individuals, groups and whole classes, under the overall direction and supervision of a qualified teacher. Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and preparing lessons and resources with teachers, contributing to all stages of the planning cycle
- Teaching whole classes within an agreed system of supervision, and providing short-term cover supervision where required
- Providing detailed verbal and written feedback to teachers and pupils on learning, progress and behaviour
- Promoting and supporting the inclusion of all pupils, including those with SEND, EAL or other additional needs
- Using behaviour management strategies in line with school policy to support a purposeful learning environment
- Supporting and mentoring less experienced teaching assistants, and contributing to their induction and development
- Contributing to assessment, monitoring and reporting of pupil progress, including liaison with parents and external professionals where appropriate
About You
Applicants will hold a relevant qualification and have demonstrable experience working as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant or in an equivalent role. You will be ambitious, enthusiastic and motivational, determined to achieve the best outcomes for the students you work with, and confident leading and supporting the work of others.
