Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Coffee Shop Manager to oversee the daily operations of our bustling coffee shop Cups & Co in Dorking.

Cups & Co is a coffee shop run by a local charity ALDAG providing work experience for young people with a learning disability and is open to the public for six days a week Monday to Saturday from 10am to 4pm. The position can be part time or fulltime with flexibility around days and hours. The working day is 9.30am to 5pm, although an earlier finish time is negotiable. The salary is based on £14.00 an hour.

Key requirements will be the ability to create a welcoming space with good food on offer whilst developing the catering and hospitality skills of our team and building strong partnerships with the local community.

We have a great team of young people with a learning disability who work in the shop and in addition you will be supported by a volunteer and a trustee from the charity.

The ideal candidate will either have experience of working with people who have a learning disability or have management experience in a catering environment.

Duties

The Manager will support and train people with a learning disability in hospitality skills, working in liaison with the second manager for the overall management and performance of the coffee shop.
Supervise daily operations of the coffee shop, ensuring smooth service and customer satisfaction.
Lead and motivate staff, providing training and support to enhance their skills in hospitality and food service.
Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organisation within the kitchen and dining areas.
Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and health standards.
Manage inventory and monitor stock levels to minimise waste.
Develop and implement promotional strategies to attract new customers and retain existing ones.
Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and feedback in a professional manner.
Work with the team to ensure timely preparation of food and beverages.

Skills

It is desirable if the candidate:

has or be willing to gain a level 2 Health and Safety certificate appropriate to a catering environment
has a level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate and is willing to gain a level 3.
has or be willing to gain a First Aid Certificate
IT, literacy and numeracy skills for completing forms, recording handovers, managing finances etc
