This Role
As a Test Engineer, you will be responsible for the inspection, testing, and verification of high-voltage protection and control panels to ensure all products meet engineering drawings, customer specifications, and company quality standards.
Working as part of the FAT and Production team, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality engineered systems used within critical electrical infrastructure projects.
This role would suit someone who enjoys hands-on electrical work, fault finding, and working within a technically focused engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out mechanical and electrical inspection and testing of protection and control panels
- Perform functional testing in line with established test and inspection procedures
- Verify wiring, schematics, and panel builds against:
- General arrangement drawings
- Wiring diagrams
- Schematics
- Customer specifications
- Identify faults, technical issues, and non-conformances
- Support fault finding and resolution activities with Engineering and Production teams
- Inspect disconnectors and LNERs to required quality standards
- Ensure all work is completed to company quality and safety procedures
- Maintain a high standard of workmanship and attention to detail
- Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) activities when required
What We Are Looking For?
We are looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience within electrical testing, inspection, panel wiring, or a similar engineering environment
- Can confidently interpret engineering drawings and electrical schematics
- Has strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Is comfortable working with electrical test equipment
- Works well independently and within a team
- Takes pride in producing high-quality work
- Has good communication and interpersonal skills
- Has a good level of computer literacy
- Is flexible and willing to support overtime during busy periods
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
The following would be advantageous, but are not essential:
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent electrical qualification
- ECS/CSCS card holder
- Experience working on protection and control panels
- Previous experience within HV, substation, switchgear, or control panel environments
