Machine Operative – Hy-Ten Ltd

Location: Chatham Docks

Hours: 39 hrs/week, Monday to Friday (plus overtime)

Salary: Competitive, negotiable

About the Role

We are looking for a reliable and skilled Machine Operative to join our busy steel fabrication team. The successful candidate will operate a range of machinery used in cutting, bending and processing steel components, ensuring high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

· Operate steel fabrication machinery, including link benders, manual benders, overhead cranes etc.

· Follow production drawings, measurements and work instructions accurately

· Carry out machine checks and report faults promptly

· Ensure all products meet required quality standards before moving to the next stage

· Work safely at all times, following company procedures and PPE requirements

· Support the wider production team with general workshop duties when required

What We’re Looking For

· Experience working in a steel fabrication, manufacturing, or industrial environment

· Ability to operate or learn to operate fabrication machinery

· Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

· Good understanding of workplace health & safety

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team

· Reliable, punctual and willing to learn

Desirable Skills

· Experience with CNC or automated machinery

· Knowledge of steel grades and fabrication processes

· Forklift or overhead crane licence

· Ability to follow engineering drawings
