Reintegration and Family Link Assistant

Location: HMP Kilmarnock Visitors Centre and Reconnect Scotland CIC Community Hub, Kilmarnock

Salary: £25,752 per annum

Hours: 35 hours per week

Contract: Fixed Term – 12 Month Contract (subject to continued funding and potential extension)

Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, however evening and weekend work will be required to meet operational needs.

About the Role:

The Reintegration and Family Link Assistant will provide practical and emotional support to individuals and families affected by imprisonment within both the prison-based Visitors Centre and wider community services.

The role focuses on creating a welcoming, supportive and trauma-informed environment for families attending prison visits, while also supporting reintegration, family relationships and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities:

Welcome and support families attending the Visitors Centre
Provide practical and emotional support to individuals and families
Support individuals pre and post-release
Assist with referrals, signposting and advocacy
Support family-focused activities and engagement sessions
Work collaboratively with prison staff and partner agencies
Maintain accurate and confidential records
Support delivery within the Community Hub as required

Essential Criteria:

Experience supporting vulnerable individuals and families with complex needs
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Understanding of trauma-informed and person-centred practice
Ability to work confidently within a custodial environment
Ability to build positive working relationships
Good organisational and time management skills
Ability to pass PVG and prison security clearance

Desirable Criteria:

Experience within criminal justice, family support or third sector services
Experience supporting children and families
Knowledge of issues affecting families impacted by imprisonment
Relevant qualification in social care, community work or related field
