Full job description

Glasgow University Union are hiring for a Conference and Events Sales Assistant to join the team on a permanent basis.

We host a wide variety of events including banquet dinners, weddings and conferences. This is an office based role, interacting on a daily basis with students, clients and suppliers.

Glasgow University Union is a Registered Charity, and a major hub of the University of Glasgow campus. With over 100 years of history, Glasgow University Union is a thriving students union with multiple bars, catering facilities and an established Conference and Events business. The successful candidate will ensure that an efficient, friendly and detailed service is provided to all clients and guests at all times.

The role is expected to be 35 hours a week but this may be flexible for the right candidate. The job involves assisting the Conference and Events Sales Manager with the co-ordination and promotion of events and meetings.

Duties

Providing administrative support to the C&E Sales Co-Ordinator throughout the booking process from enquiry to post-event feedback
Promoting the business by keeping social media platforms up to date
Dealing with day to day event enquires via phone, website and email
To maintain the calendar and database
To produce business sheets relating to events for all departments
Attend trade shows and networking events to promote the Union, which may occasionally include weekend work
Work closely with student clubs and societies with day to day events
Liaise with clients to keep event requirements up to date
Accurately quoting for events
Other duties as assigned

Essential

Conference and Events experience
Strong customer service and communication skills
Good computer skills
Attention to detail and a professional attitude

Preferred

Prior experience with Conferencing software
Administrative experience
Related degree or qualification

Pay: From £13.85 per hour
