Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled MOT Tester to join our automotive service team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting MOT tests in accordance with legal and safety standards, ensuring vehicles meet required roadworthiness criteria. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong mechanical background and a passion for vehicle safety and maintenance. The MOT Tester will play a vital part in maintaining high standards of vehicle inspection and customer satisfaction.

Duties

Conduct MOT tests on a variety of vehicles in compliance with DVSA regulations and company policies.
Perform thorough inspections of vehicle components including brakes, lights, tyres, suspension, and exhaust systems.
Identify and diagnose faults or potential issues during the testing process.
Complete all necessary documentation accurately and efficiently, ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
Assist with minor repairs or adjustments if required, adhering to safety procedures.
Maintain the MOT bay area in a clean, organised, and safe condition at all times.
Keep up-to-date with current MOT testing regulations and technical developments within the automotive industry.

Skills

Strong mechanical knowledge and understanding of vehicle systems.
Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
Ability to perform heavy lifting when required, ensuring safety protocols are followed at all times.
Excellent attention to detail to ensure thorough inspections and accurate reporting.
Good organisational skills to manage testing schedules efficiently.
Strong communication skills to explain findings clearly to customers and team members.
Relevant MOT testing certification or qualification is essential; previous experience as an MOT tester is highly desirable.
