Development and QC Chemist
Line Manager: Managing Director
Summary of Duties:
- This is an onsite role based in Featherstone, West Yorkshire supporting production and resolve any technical issues relating to production
- To investigate any customer complaints and support Resincoat’s ISO 9001 process
- To develop Resincoat’s product portfolio, improving the brand offering & introducing new products to the range
Role:
To complete research projects set by the Managing Director which will improve our product range, quality and cost controls. Obtain accreditation for specific products and co-ordinate the controlled release of new products.
To assist the production team, suggesting new chemicals & techniques to improve the manufacturing process. To work closely with the Purchasing Controller to actively identify new materials and/or suppliers in order to improve the manufacturing quality and cost base.
To work with the Customer Service Team & Quality Improvement Manager to ensure the timely closeout of any customer issues. To identify areas for improvement and support our Trustpilot & Google rankings.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Constantly review competitors’ products and ensure that Resincoat are at the forefront of Resin Technology development
- Complete projects set by the Managing Director in a timely controlled manner to ensure that any changes introduced are technically competent and support the business requirements
- Work with the Technical Manager to review the batch data and ensure that all products manufactured meet the required specification.
- Review and update batch cards to ensure manufacturing documentation remains accurate and aligned with current production processes
- Upload and maintain new formulations within OrderWise to support continued production and operational efficiency
- Assist with training the production team
- Liaise with external companies to organise accreditation for specified products
- Work with the Managing Director to develop in house techniques for testing products
- Liaise with the Customer relations team and ensure that all complaints requiring technical input are dealt with efficiently
- To ensure the highest safety standards are always employed
- Carry out daily quality testing of products as they come off the production line
- Work with the Purchasing Controller to hold regular meetings with raw material suppliers, negotiating better prices and identifying new material opportunities
- To be an ambassador of Resincoats ISO system supporting the introduction & maintenance of the system and carry out audits as per the audit schedule
- To propose ways in which Resincoat’s process may be improved to make the company more efficient and profitable
Skills & Qualifications:
- To have a safety focused approach to work at all times
- A questioning approach is needed in this role, to constantly challenge existing operational procedures/processes
- To be capable of understanding Resin systems that are used commercially namely Epoxy & Polyurethanes
- To be confident to suggest routes to improving our resin products technically
- To be cost focused and be capable of analysing Resincoat’s products and suggest ways to improve margin on all products
- To introduce new testing equipment which will be used to further quality test our products
- To communicate with the customer service team any findings relating to an order whether it be advice or relaying findings from investigations
- Ability to present written information in a structured and balanced way appropriate to the needs of the reader
- Comfortable numerically and be confident to follow risk assessments, COSHH risk assessments and follow written and verbal instruction accurately
- Can do attitude
- Comfortable and at ease talking with customers and suppliers
- Experience in a chemical production/industry environment preferred
- Excel competent
- Degree level of education
- Willing to travel and occasionally work unsocial hours
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail is essential
- Prepared to work on site, remotely and unsupervised with clients
Pay: £33,000.00-£37,000.00 per year
