Company Overview
First Steps Preschool is a vibrant early childhood education setting dedicated to nurturing and inspiring children aged 0-5 years. We are committed to providing a safe, engaging, and supportive environment where young learners can thrive and develop their full potential.

Vacancy Overview

We have a temporary Maternity cover vacancy for a full time, or possible part-time job share, for a lead practitioner in our 0-2 year Baby room, with the possibility of a permanent position at the end of the maternity cover.

You will be responsible for the overall running of the room, working with a great team of practitioners in our large nursery in St Columb Minor, Newquay.

We are looking for a special person who can inspire and lead their team and build positive relationships with children, parents and carers. A full and relevant qualification in Early Years or equivalent and good knowledge of the EYFS curriculum is essential. Experience in a supervisor role within a childcare setting is desirable.

· The ability to think on the spot and problem solve

· Be committed to continuous professional development

We are passionate about outdoor learning and you will also be liaising with our Nature Steps team, who take small groups offsite daily for beach and forest school sessions.

We offer staff discounts, a pension scheme, training and development, a supportive management structure, nursery closure on Bank Holidays and 2 weeks closure during the Christmas period. Rate of pay for this role is £14.05 per hour.
