We are seeking an experienced and motivated Lead Dental Nurse to join our growing team. This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified dental nurse looking to take the next step in their career by leading, mentoring and supporting a clinical team while maintaining the highest standards of patient care.
The Role
As our Lead Dental Nurse, you will play a key role in supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the clinical team. You will lead by example, ensuring excellent patient care, maintaining compliance with CQC and GDC standards, and providing guidance and support to nursing colleagues across the practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional patient care, ensuring every patient feels welcomed, comfortable and supported throughout their visit.
- Chairside assistance for a wide range of dental procedures, including general dentistry, implants, orthodontics and cosmetic treatments.
- Lead, supervise and mentor the dental nursing team, promoting a positive and collaborative working culture.
- Assist with the induction, training and ongoing development of trainee and qualified dental nurses.
- Ensure surgeries are prepared, stocked and maintained to the highest clinical standards.
- Maintain accurate patient records in accordance with practice policies, GDPR and GDC standards.
- Oversee the decontamination and sterilisation of instruments, ensuring full compliance with HTM 01-05 guidance.
- Support infection prevention and control procedures and monitor compliance across the clinical team.
- Work alongside the Practice Manager to ensure clinical compliance, stock management and efficient day-to-day operations.
- Assist with rota coordination, clinical workflow and maintaining an efficient patient journey.
- Communicate professionally with patients, clinicians and colleagues to provide an outstanding patient experience.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- A recognised UK Dental Nursing qualification.
- Current GDC registration.
- Previous experience within a leadership or senior dental nursing role (desirable but not essential).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A caring, compassionate and patient-focused approach.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads in a busy practice.
- Good IT skills and experience using dental practice management software (Dentally experience would be advantageous).
- A thorough understanding of CQC requirements, HTM 01-05 and current cross-infection control guidance.
- The ability to motivate, support and develop colleagues.
- A flexible and proactive attitude with a strong team ethic.
