Full job description

Experienced Accounts Assistant

Hourly rate dependent on experience

The Boxford Group, a family-owned group of businesses based in East Anglia, is looking for an experienced and motivated Accounts Assistant to join our friendly finance team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous accounts experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in accuracy, organisation and delivering excellent support to the wider business.

Key Responsibilities

Processing purchase invoices accurately and efficiently.
Checking invoices and resolving any discrepancies.
Maintaining accurate cashbooks and financial records.
Processing payments, receipts and income.
Entering financial data into Sage accounting software.
Assisting with credit control and monitoring outstanding balances.
Paying supplier invoices and tracking bank account balances.
Building and maintaining positive relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Assisting with monthly reconciliations and supporting the finance team with routine accounting tasks.
Supporting continuous improvements to finance processes and systems.
Helping ensure departmental deadlines are met.
Providing a professional, efficient and courteous service across the business.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant or similar finance role.
Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
High proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Experience using Sage accounting software (desirable).
The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
A proactive approach and willingness to learn.
Relevant accounting qualifications or experience.
