Main duties
- Assist in planning, preparing and delivering activities in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, ensuring all children are supported to achieve their full potential.
- Prepare the playroom(s) and learning environment for daily activities, ensuring they are safe, welcoming, clean and suitable for children's learning and development.
- Act as a Key Person for an allocated group of children, building positive, professional relationships with parents/carers and ensuring each child's individual needs, interests and welfare are recognised and met.
- Work in partnership with parents/carers, colleagues and other professionals to promote children's learning, development, health, safety and wellbeing.
- Maintain accurate, confidential and up-to-date records, including observations, assessments and individual learning and welfare records, in line with statutory requirements and the setting's policies.
- Provide high-quality care, teaching and stimulating play experiences that support children's learning, development and emotional wellbeing.
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of all children by remaining vigilant to signs of abuse, neglect or harm, following the setting's safeguarding and child protection procedures at all times, and reporting concerns promptly to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) or Deputy DSL.
- Promote children's health, safety and wellbeing by following all policies and procedures relating to health and safety, risk assessment, infection prevention and control, food hygiene, medication, accidents, fire safety and emergency procedures.
- Support children during meal and snack times, encouraging healthy eating, good hygiene practices and the development of independence.
- Maintain professional conduct and appropriate boundaries with children, families and colleagues, acting as a positive role model at all times.
- Participate fully in team meetings, supervision sessions, appraisals and reflective practice to continually improve the quality of care and education.
- Attend mandatory safeguarding training and all other required training, taking responsibility for maintaining professional knowledge and continuous professional development.
- Promote equality, diversity and inclusion, ensuring all children and families are treated with dignity, respect and fairness and that discriminatory behaviour is challenged appropriately.
- Promote the nursery positively to existing and prospective families while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
- Comply with all nursery policies, procedures and statutory requirements, including the EYFS, safeguarding legislation, data protection and confidentiality requirements.
- Undertake any other duties appropriate to the post as reasonably requested by the Nursery Manager to support the safe and effective operation of the nursery.

Person specification
Essential criteria
1. Willingness to learn and gain new skills. Must have or willing to complete paediatric first aid, Food hygiene, safeguarding training.
2. Work towards Level 2 early years education and childcare qualification or equivalent, and a commitment to obtaining a level 3 qualification.
3. Previous experience of working with young children.
4. Sound knowledge of child development for children from birth to five years.
5. Knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
6. Have the ability to observe, assess and record children’s progress accurately in line with the Early Years foundation stage
7. Knowledge of child protection procedures.
8. Ability to create and maintain a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment.
9. Good communication skills.
10. An understanding of play based approaches to children’s learning and development.
11. Commitment to working effectively with young children and families.
12. Friendly and flexible approach at work which facilitates the development of effective relationships, and have the ability to work effectively as part of a team and use initiative when appropriate.
13. Commitment to safeguarding, confidentiality, and professional conduct.

Location: Early Bairds childrens nursery Great Harwood Salary: starting on £13.00 then increased after probabtion
Hours: Monday – Friday 7.30 – 18.00 depending on shifts (8 hour day/ 40 hours per week) may accept 30 hours per week
