Full job description

We are seeking a talented and experienced Head Chef to lead our kitchen team at the Norfolk Mead Hotel, home to a 2 AA Rosette-awarded restaurant known for its high-quality, seasonal cuisine and exceptional dining experience.

Position Details:

Role: Head Chef
Hours: 45 hours per week
Location: Norfolk Mead Hotel
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000

About the Role:
As Head Chef, you will take full responsibility for the day-to-day running of the kitchen, maintaining the high standards expected of a 2 Rosette establishment. You will have the creative freedom to shape menus, drive innovation, and deliver consistently outstanding dishes using fresh, locally sourced ingredients.

Contracted to 45 hours per week, 9 hours per day based on a 5 day working week. Shifts are inclusive of day, evenings and weekends.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead, motivate, and develop the kitchen team
Design and deliver seasonal menus to Rosette standard
Maintain exceptional food quality, presentation, and consistency
Manage stock, ordering, and cost control effectively
Ensure full compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations
Work closely with front-of-house to deliver an excellent guest experience

Requirements:

Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Senior Sous Chef/Head Chef Role
Proven background in Rosette-level or equivalent kitchens
Strong leadership and team management skills
Passion for high-quality food and attention to detail
Ability to work efficiently under pressure
